피닉스 테크놀로지스, 레노버에 BIOS 기술 매각
피닉스 테크놀로지스는 오늘 자사 사업 일부를 레노버에 매각했다고 발표했다.
레노버는 씽크패드(ThinkPad) 노트북의 개발 및 판매를 지원하는 BIOS 기술과 특정 엔지니어링 자원을 인수했다.
피닉스는 20년 넘게 레노버와 협력해 왔으며, 레노버 제품에 BIOS를 공급하며 긴밀한 관계를 구축해 왔다.
레노버는 씽크패드 노트북의 핵심 펌웨어를 보다 면밀히 관리함으로써 상당한 이점을 얻을 것으로 기대하고 있다. 피닉스 테크놀로지스의 다른 고객들과의 관계에는 변함이 없으며, 이들 고객은 계속해서 피닉스 테크놀로지스와 계약을 체결하고 지원을 받게 될 것입니다.
제라드 무어(Gerard Moore) CEO는 “이번 매각을 통해 회사는 새로운 FirmGuard 제품의 개발 및 지원에 집중할 수 있게 될 것입니다. 또한 이를 통해 주주들에게 자본을 환원하는 데에도 도움이 될 것입니다.”라고 말했습니다.

Phoenix Technologies Divests BIOS Technology to Lenovo
Phoenix Technologies today announced that it has sold a part of its business to Lenovo. Lenovo has acquired BIOS technology and certain engineering resources which support its ThinkPad laptop development and sales. Phoenix has been working with Lenovo for over 20 years and has developed a close relationship providing BIOS for Lenovo’s products. Lenovo sees significant benefits in more closely controlling the key firmware in its ThinkPad laptops. There will be no changes in Phoenix’s relationships with its other customers who will continue to contract with and be supported by Phoenix Technologies.
Gerard Moore, CEO said. “This divestiture will allow the company to focus on developing and supporting its new FirmGuard product. It will also facilitate a return of capital to its shareholders.”
